Activ8 Solar Energies is proud to announce that we have been awarded Solar Rooftop Project of the Year for our landmark installation at Glenpatrick Spring. The award was presented at the inaugural Irish Renewable Energy Awards, held at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, an event jointly delivered by Wind Energy Ireland and Solar Ireland to celebrate the innovators transforming Ireland’s energy future.
This recognition honours the very best in rooftop solar across residential, commercial, industrial, and public buildings. Projects are judged on customer service, health and safety, installation quality, post-installation support, delivery excellence, stakeholder engagement, and measurable environmental and economic impact. We are honoured that our work at Glenpatrick Spring stood out among exceptional renewable energy projects completed in 2024 and 2025.
The Glenpatrick Spring installation represents one of the most technically advanced and intricately designed rooftop solar systems in Ireland. Today, 18% of Glenpatrick’s total energy needs are met by solar, lowering reliance on the national grid, cutting operating costs, and improving local air quality.
Spread across 10 roofs and 18 building orientations, the system incorporates more than 2,800 high-efficiency TOPCon N-type solar panels, each precisely configured to extract maximum yield from a uniquely challenging site.
To optimise performance, the installation was strategically divided into North and South zones, each with its own independent LV supply point and custom-engineered inverter stations. One station was elevated 10 feet above ground to overcome structural limitations, while the other was positioned at ground level for optimal operability—solutions that ensured zero compromise in system performance.
The rooftop system generates approximately 1,522,006 kWh per year, significantly reducing Glenpatrick Spring’s dependence on imported grid electricity. At an average energy cost of €0.22/kWh, this delivers annual savings of more than €330,000.
Since energising in mid-2024, the installation has delivered consistent and meaningful results for Glenpatrick Spring. “Since going live in mid-2024, our solar installation has consistently contributed to our energy needs—delivering 17.5% of our site’s total power in the first six months, and maintaining a 18% contribution year-to-date in 2025. This shift has led to a 16.5% reduction in energy costs from 2023 to 2024, a direct financial benefit of our investment in renewable infrastructure. Environmentally, the impact is equally significant:to date, our solar system has avoided 580 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, with projected avoidance of at least 3,166 tonnes over the next five years.” – JadePower, ESG & Contracts Manager, Glenpatrick Spring.

Winning Solar Rooftop Project of the Year is a meaningful recognition of the technical expertise, engineering precision, and client-focused project delivery that Activ8 brings to every installation.
We extend our sincere thanks to Glenpatrick Spring for their trust and collaboration, and to the Irish Renewable Energy Awards for shining a spotlight on the people and projects driving Ireland toward a more sustainable future.
At Activ8, we remain committed to leading the way in high-quality solar solutions—helping homes, businesses, and communities power their future with clean, renewable energy.
